Hi, I’m Amy Lee.


Lead map designer and design experience strategist that marries interaction, design, and location.


I research, analyze, sketch, prototype, iterate, and train best practices and workflows for location based products and narratives. Currently, Design Experience Lead at Mapbox.

BACKGROUND
I earned my MFA at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) and mixed businesses and technology at the University of Cincinnati. I served on the Board for the Greater Washington Urban League (GWUL) for two years. And I currently serve on the Board for the North American Cartographic Information Society (NACIS).

I’ve spoken at Typographics 2018, San Francisco Design Week 2018, Portland Design Week 2017, and Tallahassee Design Week 2016, and 18 other venue over the past 5 years. My work has been featured in and on The Atlas of Design, Wired, Communication Arts, Architectural Digest, and Techinca.ly DC. I’ve been interviewed on Revision Path, Dissection, and NPR’s All Tech Considered podcasts.

Burst Light proposes a new way illuminate a space. When a person blows on the pinwheel, the Burst Light reads the strength and duration of the breath which then determines the color and brightness of the light animation.
